Friday, August 22, 2014
Chris Lehmann will inspire us with his vision and practical ideas on Wednesday evening and experienced Ontario educators will provide a variety of excellent breakout sessions on Thursday.
As part of that conference, we are organizing a Minds on Media event for Friday, August 22, 2014!

What is ‘Minds On Media’?

Imagine a room full of teachers who are experts in the effective integration of technologies into their classrooms. What could you learn from them?

Join Brenda Sherry & Peter Skillenas they host this fabulous OTF event. Minds On Media is a full day BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) workshop with a variety of hands-on learning centres focusing on teaching and learning with technology.

What Will You Learn?

That is up to you! Visit one of the centres or visit them all! You choose the ‘entry point' the works for you. Build your own plan for the day or be led by one of our facilitators. Learn how to:
  • Engage student passion, self-direction and critical thinking
  • Use digital tools to support inquiry-based models
  • Critically select and use appropriate tools for your curriculum areas
  • Enhance deep understandings for all
  • Provide differentiated learning opportunities
The facilitators at the centres will have the skills to support you. A broad range of media products and tools will be supported with classroom projects as exemplars.

Learning/Teaching Style

Minds On Media is based on a constructivist/constructionist approach to learning. Each centre will provide for all types of learners by providing all modalities possible. For example, the facilitator will have on hand any number of small demos, self-guided tutorials/activities, be able to work one on one with the learner's needs and desires, be comfortable with the ebb and flow of people from centre to centre or manage the same individuals all day.
