Flipping Bloom's Taxonomy with Tech Tools
1 Hour Break out Session
A variety of tech based tools (Google and Chrome Apps and Extensions, Android and iPad apps, Minecraft) make today's learning environment ideal for revitalizing and rethinking the structure and focus of the High Order Thinking Skills in Bloom's Taxonomy.
Focusing on student-directed Creation, Evaluation and Analysis more heavily than Remembering makes for more engaged and collaborative learners.
In this session you will see how using a variety of tools to support Project, Problem and Inquiry-Based learning makes for authentic and memorable projects that allow ALL students to focus more on Higher Order thinking skills that will help them thrive in a knowledge economy: the ability to do critical thinking and problem-solving; the ability to communicate effectively; and the ability to collaborate.

Create Your Own Learning/Teaching -
Minds on Media Centre - Hands On Workshop
The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.
Pick a topic/theme that you are passionate about. Using a Tech Tool that is new to you (some choices are listed below) you are going to put together a 1-4 minute presentation using one of these tools. This hands-on session will be about the process more than the product. You will grow your knowledge of a new tech tool by using it, you will imagine how this tool would be used by the diverse group of learners you teach, and at the end you can share your product and/or experience with the tool with your peers or students.
At the very least you will have grown your experience with a tech tool, and the resulting self-reflection on your pains and gains in the experience will help inform the focus and direction of your journey into teaching and learning with technology.
